Segmental duplication of the fetal anterior cerebral artery.
Segmental duplications (also termed 'fenestrations') of the fetal anterior cerebral artery are a relatively rare anomaly. Their occurrence was studied in 200 fetuses at 20-40 wk gestational age. Duplications were found in 21 of the 200 fetuses, i.e. 10.5%. In 2 fetuses, i.e. 1%, the duplications were bilateral. In 1 case, i.e. 0.5%, 2 duplications were found on the left anterior cerebral artery...
متن کاملPosterior communicating artery aneurysm associated with duplicated posterior communicating artery and bilateral fetal posterior cerebral arteries.
Because of the location, skull-base chordomas often present with headaches and diplopia and sixth and fifth nerve palsies are the most common neurological signs.[1,2] The interval between onset of symptoms and diagnosis of clival chordoma is quite variable, 2.5-4.4 years.[4] The uncommon clinical presentations include: Nasal obstruction, nasal bleeding, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.[3,5] Spontan...
متن کاملDuplication of the Posterior Cerebral Artery and the 'True Fetal' Variant.
We present a rare case of bilateral posterior cerebral artery variant anatomy seen in a patient presenting with acute ischemic stroke. An embryological explanation of the variant configuration is discussed along with demonstrative radiologic images and a display of the vascular territory supplied.
متن کاملPosterior cerebral artery infarction from middle cerebral artery infarction.
BACKGROUND While it is known that posterior cerebral artery (PCA) infarction may simulate middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarction, the frequency and localization of this occurrence are unknown. OBJECTIVE To determine the frequency of PCA infarction mimicking MCA infarction and the territory of the PCA most commonly involved in this simulation. DESIGN We studied 202 patients with isolated in...
متن کاملA case of aneurysm of the posterior temporal artery branched from the fetal posterior cerebral artery.
The authors report a case of a ruptured saccular aneurysm located on the posterior temporal artery branched from the fetal posterior cerebral artery. This site of aneurysmal origin is extremely rare. The aneurysmal neck clipping successfully performed via a middle subtemporal route. Key w01·ds: Cerebral aneurysm, Subarachnoidal hemorrhage, Posterior cerebral artery Posterior cerebral artery (PC...
